After relaxing for one day in our “home town” Canggu, we hopped on the scooter again towards the west.
The next day we made our way north. While cruising along, we noticed a road sign which attracted our attention. It read “ restaurant with panoramic view”. Curious what this place would be, we followed the signs up the hill. What view! The ocean, mountains and a lot of green was all you could see. Beautiful! We ordered something to drink and enjoyed the view. That we wouldn't leave this place for the next two days, we didn't see that coming.
Here we started talking with a Dutch guy. He was intrigued by our story and didn't believe that we noticed the Sumberkima Hill signs by accident. He showed us around their newly build house and as it got noon we had lunch all together. Aiky liked us so much that he suggested we should stay in one of the bungalows there. As this private villa retreat was just above budget for us (*cough*cough*) he came with an offer we couldn't refuse. The offer made us a bit uncomfortable, but Aiky re-insured us that coincidence doesn't exist. This deed restored our faith in humanity a bit. That's how we spend two unexpected but fun days in a wonderful setting with a stunning view far away from the mass tourism with which we associated Bali. We enjoyed the peace and quite, the nice company and we even contributed by helping to clean up a little island of the villagers. A lovely experience we could have never imagined here on Bali. Suksma!
The next few days we also enjoyed a Bali that we didn't know yet. Lovina, in the north, was a nice place by the beach, with cozy little streets to wander around in. Attraction number 1 here is taking a boat to spot some dolphins. Chasing dolphins with 50 boats wasn't on our to-do-list so we just explored some waterfalls nearby. Finishing of our trip of “unknown” Bali we stopped in the mountain village Munduk. What we especially enjoyed here was the cooler climate. No AC needed and still tucking yourself under the blanket. Lovely! We did a nice hike in the forest here and enjoyed a lot of beautiful panorama's. Then it was time to head back south to Canggu and to the heat. And so Bali surprised us a second time.
